About Courage Tees
Courage Tees makes adaptive port-access apparel for people going through cancer treatment. The idea began the night of co-founder Katie VanArnam's first chemo session, when her mother, Casey Glazer, cut open an old T-shirt and sewed a flap over the chest port so Katie could keep her shirt on.
Thirteen years later, the mother-and-daughter team turned that shirt into a company — with snap-access tops for kids and adults, a "companion shirt" for the people in the waiting room, and a give-back model that gets shirts to patients through hospitals and nonprofits. Courage Tees won first prize at USC's New Venture Seed Competition.
